Getting Things Done….Sort of

Thanks for stopping by again! Why not stay connected by subscribing to my RSS feed.

Well, I’ve been away for a while getting things done.  Here’s a list of what I’ve accomplished lately:
-  Find used car for Mom (moi), so I don’t have to share a car with my daughter.  Done last Wed.  Yeah!
-  Have surgery on my back.  Done on Friday.  Home on Saturday.
-  Say goodbye to Hubby as he leaves for a certain communist country for 17 days.  Done.
-  Try to find some sort of part-time job to help with the bills (see above).  On hold for the moment (again see above.)

This leads me to my current state of recuperation, boredom and the following information.  I’ll preface this by saying I’m not a big TV fan, with the exception of a few weeknight shows (Chuck, House, 30 Rock); but I’m getting real familiar with daytime TV while I wait for my back to heal.

As a result, I discovered a few contests and information that might be useful.  I have to admit, I’ve always been a sucker for contests.  See if either of these appeal to you.

Live with Regis & Kelly

I used to watch this when I was home with my babies years ago, back when Kathie Lee was the co-host.  Well, if you have any musical talent at all, you might be interested in their current contest.  They’re looking for a new theme song.  Deadline is December 5.  The winner receives $100k, plus a meeting with an talent agent.

The Bonnie Hunt Show
I’ve always liked Bonnie.  I think she’s hilarious.  Her show is both warm and funny.  She has a weekly photo caption contest, which you can access on her website.  Winner receives $100. And who couldn’t use an extra $100?  It’s worth a try!  While you’re there, check out her Support Our Troops section.

Good Morning America
Well, this is not a contest but GMA had an interesting segment on finding freelance work from home.  I may be trying these out as I have a feeling I’m not going to find much around town.  GMA suggested two sites, www.oDesk.com and http://www.workingsolutions.com.  They also mentioned www.Etsy.com as a way to sell your creative work. You can view the video from the link above.

If you have any sites with similar information you’d like to share, please post it in a comment.
